Internal Family Systems Therapy Internal Family Systems Therapy is a powerful new approach to psychological healing which has been growing and spreading rapidly over the last decade. IFS recognizes that our psyches are made up of different parts, sometimes called subpersonalities. You can think of them as little people inside you, such as the rebellious teenager, nurturing parent, abandoned child, pleaser, storm trooper. Every part has a positive intent for you, to protect you from harm, avoid pain, or help you feel good about yourself. In IFS, we welcome all our parts with curiosity and compassion. We seek to understand each one and develop a trusting relationship, so we can heal it and permit it to function in a healthy way. Basic Principles of IFS IFS understands that the personality is primarily structured to protect against pain. The primary relationship in the psyche is that some parts protect us against the pain from childhood and other parts hold and contain this pain IFS has skillful techniques for negotiating these relationships. The therapist works with respect and compassion to help unfold the inner system and allow the parts to be recognized and acknowledged. Higher Consciousness IFS also recognizes that everyone is at their core a Self, their spiritual center, which contains many crucial human qualities like curiosity, compassion, courage, and acceptance. When working with an individual, the goal of IFS is to differentiate this Self from the various parts, thereby releasing its resources. The Self and the state of presence that it generates, is then supported to develop a relationship with each part, heal it, and help it move out of its extreme role. Who Can Benefit from IFS Therapy? IFS is a valuable tool in working with individuals who are interested in their own personal growth and spiritual development. In the therapeutic arena, IFS is especially effective for working with trauma, and a wonderful conceptual framework for couples and relationship therapy. When people in relationship therapy learn to talk “for” their parts rather than “from” their parts, the possibilities for understanding and compassionate viewing are multiplied.

Experiential Coaching Integrating the Best of Experiential Coaching helps you... * Clarify your vision and life
direction.
Coaching or Psychotherapy? Coaching helps clients to take action toward realizing their goals. But, all too often, the best intentions can be sabotaged by self-defeating mental attitudes and the underlying belief systems that create them. Ordinary coaching lacks the tools to address these issues – that is the work of psychotherapy. Psychotherapy seeks to help understand and heal core personality issues that determine attitudes and behavioral patterns. However, conventional psychotherapy often overlooks the practical aspects of behavioral change. Experiential coaching Through Experiential Coaching, I offer an ongoing relationship of respect and trust that supports you in reaching your goals, both through action planning and gentle, effective resolution of psychological barriers. Experiential Coaching isn’t just talk therapy. We use experiential processes to help activate your emotions, connect with your body, and stimulate your imagination. This work results in deeper understanding and healing of your psychological patterns; your spirit opens to reveal its authentic desires. Heart, mind and spirit can better collaborate in carrying out a sensible plan for reaching your goals. Experiential Coaching’s multifaceted approach promotes sustainable change. |
